Otto Virtanen the first career match in the main series of the Australian Open tournament ended in defeat.
The Finn bowed to the French To Arthur Fils batch 6–3, 6–7(4), 4–6, 4–6.
Virtanen had a great start to the match, as he took the opening set and was able to serve out the second set for the win in a 6–5 situation.
However, Fils stretched and fought for the set through a tiebreak. At the beginning of the third set, the player ranked 20th in the tournament took the lead for the first time in the match and finished the game without giving up any break points.
