This is evident from the BIOR Report 2024 of the Agriculture & Zeevisserij Agentschap. At the end of 2024 there were 634 organic farms in Flanders, two fewer than in 2023 when there was still a growth of 1.6 percent. There were 37 new registrations, but on the other hand that 39 farmers stopped. The share of organic farmers in total agriculture remained stable at 2.9 percent. However, according to the Flemish plan for organic farming, the number of organic farms by 2027 must be 5 percent of the total amounts.

With a market share of 41 percent, the classic supermarket remains the most important biokanaal, followed by the specialty shops (bakery, butcher, health food store, …) with 28 percent.
