Oranje -19 had already won 3-0 against Germany and 2-0 against Norway and was therefore certain of a place in the semi-finals. However, that did not prevent the team from getting a lot out of England. That was put aside with 4-2. Now Romania is waiting in the semi -final.
Wonderful kick Kees Smit
The peers from the other side of the North Sea already looked at a 3-0 deficit at half time. Especially the opening goal of Kees Smit was there. After a short corner kick, he curled the ball beautifully in the far top corner. Zépiqueno Redmond (Feyenoord) and Lucas Vennegoor or Hesselink (FC Twente) made the other goal.
After the break, England did something back, but all hope for a sensational comeback was smothered in the bud thanks to Redmond’s second goal. The second English goal fell in injury time.
Other semi -final
Germany goes to the semi -final together with Oranje. In the final phase it turned around against Norway (2-1) and can therefore compete against Spain.
