Orange opponent Senegal takes injured Sadio Mané to World Cup anyway | World Cup 2022

Mané was injured on Tuesday evening in Bayern Munich’s league match against Werder Bremen (6-1). National coach Aliou Cissé will announce his selection for the World Cup on Friday morning. Senegal, the champion of Africa, will be the first opponent of the Orange at the tournament in Qatar on Monday, November 21. The Senegalese hopes are mainly based on Mané, who recently finished second behind Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) in the Golden Ball election.

The attacker had to be replaced against Werder Bremen after 20 minutes after a duel with defender Amos Pieper. The French sports newspaper L’Équipe reported a day later that Mané is so injured that he cannot participate in the World Cup. That was quickly debunked by Bayern.

“Further investigations will follow in the coming days. We are in talks with the medical staff of the Senegalese Football Association,” said the German club, which will probably end the first half of the competition against Schalke 04 on Saturday without Mané.
