Orange goalkeeper Mark Fleks: ‘I’m in an ideal situation’ | 1Limburg

Goalkeeper Mark Fleks says he is currently in an ‘ideal situation’ with an ongoing commitment to his club SC Freiburg.

Reportedly, Ajax would have inquired about the goalkeeper from Bocholtz, who has been training with the Dutch national team at the KNVB Campus in Zeist since Monday.

No contact with Ajax yet
Flek tells L1 that he personally has not heard anything from the Amsterdammers. The goalie hints that he will not consider a possible transfer until later this summer. First, he wants to concentrate on his task with the Dutch team: leaving a good impression in the Nations League games against Belgium, Poland and – twice – Wales.

Playtime?
Fleks is one of the three goalkeepers in the selection of national coach Louis van Gaal. Besides him, Jasper Cillessen and Tim Krul are also in the judging corps. Justin Bijlow, who was previously the first goalkeeper under Van Gaal, is missing due to injuries. With that, playing time again beckons for Fleks, who also played the past two international matches.

Complaint-free
Flek has also had to deal with complaints in recent months, after a full season in which he played almost all matches. A week off – in the run-up to the training camp in Zeist – has done the Bocholtzenaar well in his own words. “Maybe I shouldn’t tell you exactly what I did that week,” jokes the keeper, who made a relaxed impression. In principle, his physical condition allows him to play all four Nations League matches, says the player himself.

Conversation
In addition to preparing for the games, Flek will also use the coming days to talk to staff members of the Dutch National Team about his perspectives in Orange. “I think that’s important myself,” says Fleks, who will then mainly talk to goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek. Flek van Hoek, for example, wants to hear whether he would advise him to make a transfer.

Belgium
The next game for Fleks and Orange is this Friday against Belgium, in Brussels.
