My husband is from England. After two years, his Dutch is virtually impeccable. He suggested renting a boat at the weekend to go boating on the local lakes and he would arrange it himself. Because he was unsure whether his Dutch was good enough to arrange this by telephone, he asked me to make the appointment. He gave the name and phone number of the company.
When I asked him why I had to call a funeral home, he explained that we could rent a boat: “To set sail.”
