Opinion | Merry – NRC

I have lunch with a friend I haven’t seen in a while. We chat about everything. My girlfriend works in elderly care, I am a civil servant. “I don’t know,” I say, “so many new young colleagues that I have never seen because of the corona period and hybrid work, and in addition: I am very old in their eyes. If they see me in person, they probably won’t be very happy.” My girlfriend laughs: “Fortunately I don’t have that, I hear with every new shift: how wonderful that you are back.” She looks at me cheerfully: “They are demented, aren’t they.”
