My son works in a telephone store. Since the Odido data breach, customers have been coming in concerned: “Is my data now out on the street?” He looks at their data with them, very calmly and professionally. And then it often turns out: they have been hacked long before. Not once, at least five times on average. Five! As if you call the locksmith after one burglary and he says: “Madam, you have been living without a lock on your door for years.” Annoying, of course. But honestly: for awareness it works excellently. Sometimes panic is apparently the best marketing campaign.
