Now that I have a hearing aid, some sounds come in with hurricane power. Daily things like rustling paper and rattling coffee cups are deafening. The height so far is grinding the beans for a cup of espresso, an absolute torment for the ears. A friend came by yesterday. “Coffee,” I asked? “Please.” He glanced in the kitchen, on the coffee bean grinder: “Oh, how beautiful, a Silenzio!” I looked stunned on the back of the Maler where the name of the hellish machine stood: ‘Silenzio’.
