Open Ajax training: selfies, signatures and failed bicycle kick

The Ajax selection has been in De Lutte since Monday, like every year. On Tuesday, fans in nearby Oldenzaal could already watch a practice match with SV Meppen, today the public was welcome again at the training. With this time time for photos, autographs and for one fan even the chance of a world goal.

“It’s nice to see how it all goes,” says a supporter who lives nearby. “It’s good to see that the boys are looking forward to it and that they are fit.” Another took his four-year-old son with him. “Yes, you have to put that in early. They grow up in the Twente area. Many are here for FC Twente. They have to be small Ajax players, of course.”

What is striking is that Richard Witschge and Michael Reiziger give fierce directions, while Alfred Schreuder sees from a distance that it is right. Something else notable: almost all fans mention Mohamed Ihatteren as their favorite player they have seen today. Ihattaren therefore takes extensive time for photos and autographs.

Failed Circumcision

Someone who does that too is Sean Klaiber. The right back has a chat with several supporters, is featured in dozens of photos and, to top it off, he invites a fan onto the field. The pass that the boy then receives from Klaiber is very nice, but the bicycle kick that follows fails hopelessly.

It shows the relaxed atmosphere during the training. Tomorrow it will all be a little more serious, then the German Paderborn will come to Oldenzaal for a practice match.
