Only 1 in 5 living wages finds work after a year: “Just letting them fill vacancies is not a solution”

Of the 37,000 people who receive a living wage in Flanders, ‘only’ 8,000 find work a year later. And that while there are 157,000 vacancies. The Flemish government therefore no longer only targets unemployed people, but also people who receive a living wage. Is that a good idea for the latter? Professor and labor market expert Ludo Struyven (KU Leuven) has his reservations: “The living wage is often a revolving door that people end up in several times.”
