AZ will be preparing for the draw for the eighth finals of the Conference League on Friday afternoon. The Alkmaarders were already placed as group winners, but only now know the possible opponents in the European tournament.
Because AZ finished as group winner in the group with FC Vaduz, Apollon Limassol and Dnipro-1 before the winter break, it now has a protected status. That means it avoids the strongest teams.
The possible opponents of AZ are the following seven clubs. Anderlecht (Bel), Lazio Roma (Ita), Fiorentina (Ita), AEK Larnaca (Cyp), Sheriff Tiraspol (Mol), FC Basel (Swi) and Lech Poznan (Pol).
The matches in the eighth finals of the Conference League will be played on March 9 and 16. AZ plays the first leg. The return is in Alkmaar a week later.
