PARIS (dpa-AFX) – “One more time”, meaning “once again” – with these words the supporters of French President Emmanuel Macron also celebrated his re-election with music. At the gathering in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a DJ played the popular track by French electro duo Daft Punk shortly after the projection was announced on Sunday night. Videos showed supporters singing along, holding placards and waving French and European flags.

Macron, who joined the celebration later, should also be satisfied with the music selection. When he received the then US President Donald Trump in Paris for National Day in 2017, a band of brass and percussion started the Daft Punk hit “Get Lucky”. Macron rocked to the beat with a beaming smile. Macron ran against the right-wing EU critic Marine Le Pen in the runoff election for the highest office on Sunday. Extrapolations saw him with 58.5 to 58.8 percent of the votes./rbo/DP/zb
