One hundred years of fanfare in Emmen, Laus Deo receives Royal Medal of Honor

The second performance of Scrooge Theater Spectacle in the Atlas Theater in Emmen turned into a royal evening for the Laus Deo music association. The music association in Emmen received the Royal Medal of Honor from the King’s Commissioner in Drenthe Jetta Klijnsma.

The Royal Medal of Honor is a badge of honor that can be awarded to associations, foundations or institutions. According to the province, the association receives the award because of its 100th anniversary and because of the special place that Laus Deo occupies in Emmen and the surrounding area.

Laus Deo started in 1923 as a brass band for boys from Noordbarge, Zuidbarge and Westenesch. Now a hundred years later, the music association is much broader and more versatile, including a marching show band that is used at many events. Consider, for example, the evening four-day event, commemorations and the arrival of Sinterklaas. Laus Deo also gives music lessons, among other things.
