The extinguishing work continued on Monday evening, but the fire is being controlled by the fire brigade.

A fire broke out in a forest in the Elbe-Elster district on Monday.

In the late afternoon, around one hectare of forest was on fire at a wind farm in the Falkenberg/Elster area on the state border between Brandenburg and Saxony, said a spokesman for the Lausitz regional control center.

The extinguishing work initially continued, but the fire was under control, he emphasized. There was initially no information about the cause of the fire.

Dozens of forces and several fire engines from both countries were therefore deployed, with around 40 emergency services from Elbe-Elster alone.
