Sunday, December 14 is World Light Day. People all over the world then light candles for all the deceased children. This creates a ribbon of light. The candles are also lit in Zoetermeer on World Candle Day to commemorate the children and offer each other comfort.

“Anyone who feels connected to a deceased child is welcome at this meeting. Whether you are father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, friend or neighbor. It does not matter how old the child was when it died or how long ago it was. It remains your child, forever,” says the Survivors Care Foundation. Children who never breathed are also remembered on Sunday, December 14.
Program in Zoetermeer
The commemoration meeting will take place at 6:30 PM in the reception room of Meerbloemhof. At 6:45 PM it is time to light the lights together, so that the silent procession can leave at 7:00 PM. The light tour goes through part of the cemetery and ends at the reverie on the Terp. The four places with children’s graves are illuminated by fire pits and torches.
The procession will return to the auditorium of the Meerbloemhof around 7.35 pm and there will be speeches and live music. Then, around 8:30 PM, there will be time to chat in the coffee room.
