Omar Richards is likely to move to Royal Antwerp

Omar Richards could not prevail at Bayern. Now he is being courted by a Belgian club.

Bayern left-back Omar Richards is likely to be courted by Belgian first division club Royal Antwerp. This is reported by the Belgian newspaper “Het Nieuwsblad”. Accordingly, the Belgians have informed the German record champions that they are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

Transfer fee for Antwerp difficult to lift

The big catch from a Belgian point of view is the transfer fee. Allegedly, Bayern want twelve million euros for their left-back – far too much money for fifth-placed in the past Jupiler League season. Antwerp now hopes to negotiate the price down. An alternative would be a rental business. However, it is unclear whether the people of Munich will agree to it. Richard’s contract in Munich runs until 2025.

Richards moved to the Isar on a free transfer from English club Reading FC last summer. Therefore, Bayern would see a large transfer plus should the deal go through.

The Brit was scheduled to replace Alphonso Davies, but was unable to assert himself during the Canadian’s long injury layoff. Despite all this, the London-born made 17 appearances for Bayern Munich in all competitions last season, although he was only in the starting XI six times.
