Assisting suicide and providing the means to do so is punishable in the Netherlands if suicide follows. In October 2022, the Public Prosecution Service announced that it would prosecute ten people.
Last year, witness interviews took place before the examining magistrate as part of this investigation. The results of these interrogations have led the Public Prosecution Service to decide not to pursue the prosecution of three suspects due to a lack of evidence. The seven other people must appear in court in Arnhem next year.
