The public prosecutor confirms that the medals have since been secured and that every effort is made to return them to Vandecaveye as quickly as possible. The seller is currently being heard further. There is still research into the precise origin of the medals and possible involvement of other persons.
Vandecaveye won silver at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 and Brons in Sydney in 2000. She regularly takes her medals to judo events to inspire young people.
