L1 won a prize at the Regiohelden Awards on Thursday.
The Regiohelden Awards, formerly known as the NL Awards, are the annual prizes for the best productions of the thirteen regional broadcasters.

In the category ‘The inventor’, L1 can call itself the best because of the renaming of the Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest (OLS). It is an award for the best innovative journalistic project of 2021.

Due to the corona pandemic, the OLS, one of the largest cultural events, could not take place. That is why the Limburg broadcaster developed an app so that shooting could still take place. Innovation, according to the jury, that was what it was all about. And that’s something L1 showed with this app.
“One of the core tasks of the regional broadcaster is to propagate your cultural identity. This app reshapes tradition and connects a new target group with cultural heritage,” according to the jury.
Price
Last year L1 won one NL Award in the Young Talent category. The prize then went to crime reporter Bas Dingemanse.
