Olivia Newton-John will receive a state funeral in Australia

Actor For Olivia Newton-John a state funeral will be held, reports the British newspaper Daily Mail.

Australian Newton-John died on August 8 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Newton-John’s niece Tottie Goldsmith accepted the offer to organize a State Funeral on behalf of Newton-John’s family.

Goldsmith and Premier of the state of Victoria Daniel Andrews discussed a possible funeral on Thursday Morning.

The time and place of the funeral is not yet known. Discussions about the funeral arrangements between Newton-John’s relatives and the ministry are still ongoing, according to the newspaper.

Andrews hinted in the program that the nature of the occasion is closer to a concert than a traditional blessing ceremony.

“The family was very touched that Victorians could come together and celebrate Olivia’s life,” Andrews said.

Newton-John contracted cancer for the first time in 1992, after which the disease recurred twice.

Newton-John was known for his work in philanthropy. After his first diagnosis, he founded the Center for Cancer and Wellness Research in Melbourne. The Newton-John Foundation has raised millions of pounds for cancer research.

Before his death, the star apparently intended to send a letter to Victoria’s Health Minister, Australia’s Health Minister and the Prime Minister to promote greater access to medical cannabis.

Passionate about spirituality and holism, Newton-John was known to use medical cannabis to treat his symptoms.
