Xavier Naidoo gave his first comeback concert in Cologne. But it’s not just the paying fans on site apparently went into raptures about the musician who called himself a racist a few years ago. Apparently Naidoo fan Oliver Pocher also had a good time on the rank.
The comedian commented clearly on the first Naidoo show in six years. In a social media post, the comedian wrote about the concert: “6 years of waiting! Here he is again! He is simply the BEST SINGER we have in Germany! They tried to cancel, but talent and skill always prevails![sic!]“
The statement was accompanied by a video from the Lanxess Arena in Cologne showing Naidoo’s appearance:
Oliver Pocher has forgiven Xavier Naidoo
It is not surprising that comedian Xavier Naidoo is supporting him in his stage comeback. The musician had already had the chance to perform on Oliver Pocher’s “Liebeskasper” tour in 2024. The fact that Xavier Naidoo had previously described himself as a racist and spread conspiracy theories online apparently didn’t bother the comedian. He was greeted back then with the words “He is simply the greatest singer we have in Germany.” However, the reactions to the performance were mixed.
In their joint podcast, both Pocher and his ex Sandy Meyer-Wölden distanced themselves from Naidoo’s conspiracy theories, with which the singer polarized in the past and was therefore officially labeled an “anti-Semite” by the Federal Constitutional Court in 2021. Pocher called the time a “very disturbing phase” for the singer.
Pocher found the apology video that Naidoo later posted to be “sincere”. At the time, Naidoo published a three-minute clip on Instagram in which he apologized for spreading his views. “That’s the nice thing these days anyway, even when people apologize, they say: ‘He apologized, but yeah, it doesn’t matter.'” said Pocher then about the public reactions to the video.
