TSG Hoffenheim narrowly avoided the descent. But really great joy did not come up in the Kraichgau.
TSG Hoffenheim is saved. Despite a 0: 4 home clap against FC Bayern, the team from Kraichgau does not leave. Hoffenheim also owes this to SV Werder Bremen, who won 4: 1 in Heidenheim. If Heidenheim had won three goals, Hoffenheim’s path would have led to the relegation due to his own result.
Despite the rescue, Oliver Baumann was not to be celebrated. The national goalkeeper and captain of TSG Hoffenheim said at Sky: “That was my worst season.” He continued: “I am a bit embarrassed, many thanks to Bremen. We just had a lot of luck, but today there are four (goals, on the editor). We have to develop.” The whole situation is simply “uncomfortable” for him. Among other things, he cited the many secondary locations in the current Hoffenheim season as the reason for the disappointing season with only 32 points and 68 goals (secondary tester value of the league).
On the one hand, the sudden separation from managing director Alexander Rosen in the middle of the transfer phase, but then also the leave of absence from head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo and the separation from consultant Roger Wittmann, who had worked closely with the club. For an otherwise quiet environment as that of the TSG, which can hardly be compared to that of a traditional club, a more than unusual season.
Trainer Christian Ilzer wants to look optimistically into the future. The Austrian, who had taken over in the middle of the first half of Matarazzo, said: “It was a season for everyone involved with a lot of negativity in and around the club. But nobody gave up or hanging up, even if there were many situations that were not easy for the boys. Nevertheless, we held together in the end.”
Now he wanted to look ahead and put a “final line” behind the season. The TV broadcaster Sky had reported before the game that the Ilzer Ilzer could keep his job. In view of his point cut of 0.96 per game, coaches such as Lukas Kwasniok (SC Paderborn) or Sandro Wagner (assistant coach A national team) were brought into play at TSG. However, Wagner reports that Kwasniok is also traded in other teams (Schalke 04, Hannover 96). So in Hoffenheim it is apparently with Ilzer.
