After his commitment to Werder Bremen, Ole Werner hires at Bundesliga competitor RB Leipzig. Both clubs confirmed this early Tuesday afternoon. In the Saxons, Werner receives a contract until 2027. Werner agreed with Werder to dissolve his still existing employment contract. The co-trainers Patrick Kohlmann and Tom Cichon, who are also exempted, move to Leipzig with Ole Werner.
As “Kicker” and “Bild” unanimously report, Werder Bremen in the transfer poker around Werner, who had previously been contracted in Bremen until 2026. According to this, the Hanseates are said to have deviated from their original transfer claim of six million euros.
According to the reports, they have now been agreed on a sum of two to three million euros. Any bonus payments could still be added. The breakthrough in the talks is said to have already been last Friday.
Werder had separated from Werner at the end of May after he did not want to extend his contract on the Weser. The coach has been responsible for the Bremen since November 2021. Previously, he had started his coaching career at Holstein Kiel in various functions.
In Leipzig, after the separation from Marco Rose, Zsolt Löw was in office as an interim coach at the end of March to the end of the season. In addition to Werner, CESC Fàbregas (Como) and Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) were previously under discussion for the head coach post. The Dane Jacob Neestrup from FC Copenhagen had also been traded as a possible new coach, before the 37-year-old Jaissle was recently considered an alternative to Werner. The RB training start is planned on July 14th.
