Kunkenschwürz Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunleye collected a damper three weeks before the start of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Mannheim woman stayed under her possibilities at the Diamond League meeting in Brussels and only came to fourth place with 18.99 m.
With a view to the World Cup (September 13th to 21st), the German hopeful will have to increase in order to intervene in the medal fight.
World champion Chase Jackson (USA) won the competition on Friday evening at 20.90 m and remained only five centimeters below her own world year best. Sarah Mitton (Canada/19.89) and European champion Jessica Schilder (Netherlands/19.58) landed behind it.
Ogunleye achieved her best in the second attempt. She was neither able to build on her seasonal stamp of 19.67 m nor to the upward trend of the previous week when she had become second at the City event in Poland with 19.50 m.
