Officially! Frank Kramer will succeed Mike Büskens

Schalke 04 have signed a new coach. What was initially speculated is now certain: Frank Kramer will replace Mike Büskens. This clarifies the most important personal details for the promoted team.

Now it’s official: Frank Kramer is the new coach at Bundesliga promoted Schalke 04. The 50-year-old coached Arminia Bielefeld until the end of April, but the East Westphalians parted ways with their coach at the end of the season. Kramer has signed a two-year contract with the Royal Blues.

“Frank is an absolute team player. Someone who can lead people and likes to gather experts around him to find the best possible solution for the team. And at the same time he is always ready to lead the way and take responsibility – in our eyes a success-oriented combination” , said sporting director Rouven Schröder in a club statement.

Kramer “can hardly wait” for work at Schalke

Kramer himself said: “I can hardly wait to start working with the team and staff. Schalke 04, with around 160,000 members and many millions of fans, is one of the biggest clubs in Germany, and the atmosphere on match days in the Veltins Arena is simple I’m really looking forward to being on the sidelines as head coach and doing my part to help us achieve our common goal next season.”

Kramer had previously looked after SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Fortuna Düsseldorf and the German U20 selection, among others. Mike Büskens took over the coaching position at Schalke after the dismissal of Dimitrios Grammozis at the beginning of March and led the club to promotion.

But because Büskens moved back into second place, sports director Rouven Schröder had to look for a coach. According to information from “Kicker”, Schalke will also have news about further player transfers in the course of the week.
