Coach Heiner Backhaus and defender Patrick Nkoa are reunited: the defender joins Eintracht Braunschweig. The voices to the transfer.
Eintracht Braunschweig hired another central defender shortly before the transfer period ended. The association confirmed the change from Patrick Nkoa to the Löwenstadt on Friday afternoon. At the BTSV, the 26-year-old receives a contract by 2026 and will in future be number 3.
With the obligation, Eintracht also reacts to the lengthy failure of defender Frederik Jäkel, explains sports director Benjamin Kessel. “It was important to us that we gain in the defensive speed, physique and duel strength,” said the ex-professional. “It is precisely these attributes that Patrick NKOA brings with him, last year he demonstrated his qualities in the 3rd division as one of the most defensive central defenders.”
It was glad that the transfer could be realized at short notice. NKOA was under contract with third division club Alemannia Aachen and was there last season under coach Heiner Backhaus, whom he also moved to Eintracht. The two now meet again on the Oker.
“I look forward to my time in Braunschweig and my new challenge in the 2nd Bundesliga,” says the newcomer. “I would like to integrate myself into the team as soon as possible and contribute to my part that we can also build on the positive start of the season in the coming weeks and months.”
In the past season, NKOA had been on the pitch in 21 third division games for Aachen. However, his expiring contract was not extended after the end of the season. According to Sky, a change to Swiss Club FC Winterthur did not come about. Its market value is estimated by the data portal “Transfermarkt.de” to 250,000 euros. No transfer is due for the club -free defender.
