“At the moment there is no power in the city,” a counselor to the president, Kyrylo Timochenko, wrote on Telegram. But he emphasized that critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, still has electricity. “The situation is difficult but under control,” he said.

Odessa was attacked by Russian drones last night, according to regional governor Maksym Marchenko. According to him, two of those aircraft were rendered harmless by Ukrainian air defenses.

On Friday, the government in Kiev announced that the regions in the south had many problems with the power supply. On Monday, the Russians fired dozens more cruise missiles at the energy infrastructure in the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he wants to continue these attacks, despite heavy criticism from the international community. The attacks on the energy infrastructure have left millions of people in the dark and cold.

Russia reports military success

The Russian army also reported on Saturday that it had launched an offensive in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of eastern Ukraine in which “the enemy was driven out”. Between the small towns of Kreminna and Lyman, the Russians say they have “taken up positions”. The information could not be independently verified.
