Odermatt wins the giant slalom and the World Cup with 10 races to spare

With the success of Palisades Tahoe, the Swiss became unreachable at 1702 points against the 701 of the Austrian Feller. The Azzurri did poorly, with Vinatzer 19th

With an extraordinary feat, the Swiss Marco Odermatt won the Palisades Tahoe giant slalom in 2’11″69 and at the same time won his third consecutive world cup, ten races before the end of the season. He is mathematically unattainable by his only potential opponent, the Austrian Manuel Feller, today only eighth. Odermatt in fact has 1702 points in the standings against Feller’s 701. On the podium with the Swiss – in a race in which the Italians disappointed – the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen and the American River Radamus. For Odermatt – 26 years old – it is the 35th career victory and the 10th of the season which add to an Olympic title and two world championships. Excellent gigantist – seven victories out of seven races this season – he is also an excellent super gigantist and downhill skier. It is no coincidence that he also leads the rankings in all these three disciplines.

the blues are bad

The Azzurri were disappointing on a track set in the second heat by coach Peter Fill. The best was Alex Vinatzer, but only 19th. Even further back, too direct on some gates, the Lombardian Filippo Della Vite 22nd, while the Trentino Luca De Aliprandini ended up out due to a line error after a bump. Tomorrow in the Californian resort ends with a special slalom. But for Italian skiing, attention will be paid above all to the women’s Super-G scheduled for Val di Fassa with Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino on the slopes in splendid form. It is the second of the two super-Gs scheduled at Passo San Pellegrino. The first was canceled due to the heavy snow that fell on the La Volata slope.
