Nyck de Vries has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his team Toyota Racing. Together with his teammates Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway, he is the first Dutchman since 1988 to win the prestigious race.
After Gijs van Lennep (1971 and 1976) and Jan Lammers (1988), 31-year-old De Vries is the third Dutch racing driver to achieve the overall victory in the French long-distance classic, which again attracted 300,000 visitors this year.
Robin Frijns made the Dutch success even greater by finishing second in a BMW, just ten seconds behind. The Limburger rode the 24-hour race together with the German René Rast and the South African Sheldon van der Linde.
De Vries is a former Formula 2 champion. He drove ten races for the Alpha Tauri team in Formula 1 in 2023 and became world champion in the Formula E electric racing class in the 2020/21 season.
