Dutchman Nyck de Vries drove superbly to ninth in his first career F1 race.

After the Monza race, de Vries, who got quick command behind the wheel of the Williams car, was so tired that he couldn’t get out of the car on his own.

In the video published by the F1 series, de Vries had to ask for help on the team radio.

– I can’t even… Can someone come and help me? I can’t even lift my arms anymore, de Vries said.

Finally, the employees of the Williams team came to help the 27-year-old driver out of the car.

In the interview after the race, de Vries was all smiles. The Dutchman was already convincing in qualifying on Saturday by driving to the second qualifying stage. The value of the performance is especially enhanced by the fact that he received the order to Williams’ car just an hour and a half before the third practices run on Saturday.

He easily beat the one who drove more Williams cars By Nicholas Latif. The Canadian driver has been driving for Williams since 2020, but has not really impressed at any point.

De Vries’ speed immediately raised the discussion about next season’s driver positions and whether he could replace, for example, Latif with Williams.

– It is not up to me to decide whether I should get a place or not. We live in a competitive industry and it is only as good as your last race and you are always expected to perform. “Luckily I did that this weekend and grabbed this opportunity with both hands,” de Vries said on the F1 website.

The jury of the Monza race called de Vries to talk after the race for “irregular driving”. De Vries defended Alfa Romeo’s positions Guanyu Zhouta against at the end of the race. The jury was also interested in de Vries’ view on driving behind the safety car and staying within the delta time.

De Vries told the jury that he had not received any instructions from his team regarding the delta time because he was talking to his team about the brake problem.

In the end, the jury only gave de Vries a warning.
