Nuremberg’s relegation worries are getting bigger

1. FC Nürnberg is still worried about relegation four games before the end of the season. The club lost 0:3 (0:1) at Hannover 96 on Saturday evening and is four points ahead of relegation place 16 in the table of the 2nd Bundesliga.

Nuremberg still plays at home against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hansa Rostock, who are threatened with relegation, as well as at SC Paderborn and 1. FC Magdeburg. In the basement duel between SV Sandhausen and Jahn Regensburg on Sunday (1:30 p.m. / Sky), things could get even closer for FCN.

In Hanover, the guests initially kept up well in front of 28,500 spectators, they were also the better team in the first half, but did not use their chances. However, Louis Schaub had already hit the post for the 96ers 13 minutes before Julian Börner’s opening goal (43rd). Hanover improved to the supposedly safe mark of 40 points.

Nürnberg wanted to start the second half energetically, but conceded another goal straight away: left-back Derrick Köhn (49th) completed an attack with a flick into the right corner. The club’s ever more desperate efforts to catch up were unsuccessful, Maximilian Beier (70th) scored 3-0 after a bad play error in midfield.
