Over the whole of 2024, more than half a million traffic fines have been written out less than in 2023. The decrease included all ‘traditional’ traffic violations, such as speed, parking and driving through red light. However, many more fines were issued for Inrijnderboden.

The total number of violations based on the Administrative Enforcement of Traffic Regulations (WAHV), the so-called Mulder fines, amounted to 7,913,692. Almost 8.5 million WAHV decisions were issued in 2023 (8,463,917).

Most violations are found on speed: in 2024 almost 6 million (5,969,817, in 2023 these were 6,546,450). Parking violations (2024: 465.819, in 2023: 473.539), driving through red light (2024: 214.962, 2023: 233,512), and Handheld Telephone use (2024: 165,408, in 2023: 198.841) are also large groups. In 2025, enforcement on holding a telephone will be intensified with the OM’s focus flashes.

The increase in things that concern an entry ban was visible throughout the year. This mainly concerns violations of the C12 traffic sign that is often used to indicate inrijnderboden of a car -free city center or environmental zone. The number of violations rose from about 147 thousand to almost 300 thousand.

The decrease in the number of violations found, such as the police and the Public Prosecution Service, was previously announced, partly due to the fact that the fixed speed cameras are being replaced, so that they are temporarily off. Two route control systems have also been permanently plotted. Thousands of decisions have been written out at some locations, such as in Amsterdam where only 30 km/h can be driven in many places. Enforcement during work on the highway has also led to a major intake of things.

In addition, the number of decisions after standing postures decreased by the police. This was partly due to a shift within the work to heavier offenses within the enforcement of road safety (for example, alcohol controls, Fatbikes), and, for example, large-scale deployment of police officers and collective labor agreements by police officers.
