Naked for life12 artists at the service of a good cause

After the debut of the male protagonists (Antonio Catalani, Gabriele Cirilli, Gianluca Gazzoli, Francesco Paolantoni, Memo Remigi and Gilles Rocca), it was the turn of Corinne Cléry, Maddalena Corvaglia, Valeria Graci, Elisabetta Gregoraci, Brenda Lodigiani and Alessandra Mussolini. In both cases, a heterogeneous cast in terms of curriculum, age and personality.

Each accepted a challenge as difficult as it is unusual: to undress in the true sense of the word. Not for an ephemeral search for the voyeuristic effect, but to convey a higher message. Take care of yourself starting with routine clinical screening. A simple action, but not always obvious.

Fear, frenetic rhythms, superficiality: there are many factors that sometimes lead to underestimate the periodic “coupons” that the body requires. A perfect machine, which needs constant evaluations. And in this television can be the bearer of an important message. Elisabetta Gregoraci he remembers: “It is normal to be afraid, but it is the only way to save our lives”. Of the same opinion, by virtue of her personal experience, also Mara Maionchi. “If I hadn’t done prevention, I would have found out when it would have already done damage,” he says, referring to breast cancer which hit her in 2015.

The review: a bold, light, but not frivolous project

Naked for life it is a bold, difficult project, certainly not immediate. The 12 artists agree to go up on the stage of the Parenti Theater in Milan, try their hand at a choreography, at the end of which they strip naked. The docu-reality tells the various phases, from the first meeting in the rehearsal room until the evening of the debut.

The aspects that emerged during the episodes are different. First of all, the harmony – presumed or real – between the members of the cast. Women show the classic – and often coveted – solidarityeven if there is no lack of disagreements. Men immediately embrace a goliardic atmosphere. All in all, the weather is light, but not frivolous.

In fact, the goal to be achieved never fails. To do this, each artist has stripped off his own dress, showing not only his body, but above all his soul. Someone told their experience – direct or indirect – with the disease, all have told themselves without filters. They took off the mask and knocked down the barriers.

Naked for lifean example of Public Service

A fundamental and not immediate step, which emerges in particular in the two episodes dedicated to women. Each of them addresses the relationship with your body and with sensuality. A difficult, sometimes tortuous path, well underlined by Valeria Graci. «I go on stage without my compression stockings and without my containment sheath. I understood that sensuality does not only pass through a sculpted and dry body, but also passes through roundness“, explains.

Again, for Alessandra Mussolini “a half burlesque course for all women would do well”. And here comes another important element: the so-called body positivity. Speaking of nudity, then, Corinne Cléry he stresses that the nude “is not a dirty thing. If there is elegance, everything passes ».

Effectively, Naked for life it never borders on vulgarity. At most, in some moments it borders on the risk of boredom, perhaps due to the story in some points too diluted. Nonetheless, the docu-reality formula turns out to be necessary and profitable when he wants to show the change of the protagonists. And, through this, bring attention back to prevention, which remains the core of the format.

The message of the program

Format which, in addition to following the preparation of a show with the participation of choreographer Marcello Sacchettainserts medical screening, consultations and testimonials of those who have faced the disease firsthand. In this sense, the program is part of the concept of public service. An expedient that wants to act as a warning.

Therefore, despite the need for some adjustment, it remains a worthy experimentinsofar as it carries a double message. On the one hand, the need for prevention; on the other hand, the achievement of the right dose of courage to show yourself as you are, without any fear. An act of courage that frees you from the trappings and – as the claim shown a moment before the end credits recalled – “that can save your life”.
