NS strike will be felt throughout the country tomorrow: ‘Virtually no trains in North Holland’ Inland

“In order to run the timetable as well as possible in the rest of the Netherlands, we run trains to and from Voorhout station, Almere Oostvaarders, Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA and Utrecht Central,” according to the NS. But the strike area is so intertwined with the timetable that travelers in the rest of the country could also be affected by the action. This means that people ‘rural’ have to take into account more travel time and more transfers.

‘Schiphol Airport station will remain accessible for necessary journeys during this action day. There is limited train traffic between Schiphol Airport and Utrecht Central Station.’ The NS advises travelers to, from and within Noord-Holland to ‘choose alternative transport or postpone their journey and consult the Travel Planner shortly before departure’. Alternative bus transport is not possible.

The last strike in particular was felt elsewhere as well, because a few important nodes such as Rotterdam Central were hit.
