Real Madrid star Federico Valverde denies the claims made by him and his teammates Arúrélien Tchouamén from the fight between.
The club announced on Thursday evening that Valverde has been diagnosed with a brain injury after a blow to the head. According to Marca, Valverde and the French player Tchouaméni would have fought during the team’s training.
French RMC Sport and the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC wrote that Valverde would have been unconscious for a while. The argument allegedly started on the field and continued in the locker room. The Uruguayan Valverde was admitted to the hospital after the alleged stabbing, where he was diagnosed with a head injury.
Later, Valverde wrote his own statement about the events on his Instagram account. He says that he first got into an argument with his teammate on Wednesday.
– In a regular dressing room, things like this happen, and they are sorted out internally, and they are not made public. Clearly someone is behind this and is quickly spreading the story, Valverde feels.
“I hit my head on the table”
The player continues that a new argument with a teammate broke out on Thursday.
– During the argument, I accidentally hit my head on the table, which caused a small gash on my forehead, which required a routine visit to the hospital, he explains.
– My teammate has never hit me, and I haven’t hit him either, although I understand that it’s easier to believe that we were in a fist fight.
According to Valverde, the dispute stemmed from anger and frustration caused by, among other things, poor success in the Champions League.
Valverde’s injury requires 10-14 days of rest, so he will be sidelined for at least three La Liga matches. The team is currently second in the standings with Barcelona leading by 11 points.
Real Madrid has said that they will initiate disciplinary action against both Valverde and Tchouamén.
