In fact, Geert Lomans had already hung his microphone a year ago. The tractor layer in Schoonebeek would be his last after a trip of decades along the various tractor lights in the province. Especially for the 25th edition of the Event in Hooghalen, he comes back one more time.
“Purely because it is twenty -five times tractor layer in Hooghalen, I did it this year. With my son, he also takes over. So the circle is round,” says Geert Lomans about it. Son Tjeerd has already taken over the baton in other places; Last week in Coevorden he commented solo. This weekend he has to share the microphone with his dad again.
“This is really the last time,” says Tjeerd Lomans about it. “But Mama has been kind to bring us so we can drink an extra glass of beer in the tent tonight. So in that respect it will be closed well.”
Visitors to the Trekerslep in Hooghalen are not finished from Geert after this year. Part of the track is named after him and an image of the speaker adorns a bend where the tractors reverse.
