The Russians are returning to the World Cup after a break of almost three years.

Two Russian skiers will be seen in the sprints of the Davos World Cup on Saturday.

The matter was confirmed on Friday evening, when the start lists of the race were published.

On the men’s side, the youth world champion is with number 54 Saveli Korosteljov.

Both Russians compete in the World Cup with a neutral status.

Finnish participants in the men’s sprint are Lauri Vuorinen, Joni Mäki, Emil Liekari, Niilo Moilanen and Olli Ahonen.

Competitors on the women’s side Jasmin Kähärä, Jasmi Joensuu, Hilla Niemelä and Selene Rossi.

The international skiing federation Fis announced in October that Russian and Belarusian athletes would not be allowed to participate in the Olympics and the World Cup, but Russia appealed the decision to the International Court of Appeal for Sports (Cas).

At the beginning of December, Cas decided that Russian and Belarusian cross-country skiers, snowboarders, hill jumpers and freestyle skiers are allowed to return to international competitions.

The Russians and Belarusians were forced out of the World Cup in the spring of 2022, when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
