Now also childcare in Roeselare temporarily closed
“City of Roeselare received a message today from Agency Growing – the former Child and Family – that as a precaution they are proceeding to a temporary closure of childcare ‘t Fopspeentje at Heirweg 10”, the city said in a statement.
“The suspension means that, as long as the suspension lasts, it is no longer allowed to carry out childcare activities. This is a unilateral decision by the Flemish Government, which of course has a lot of consequences for many families. The City takes action via the local counter childcare takes on the responsibility to look for alternative childcare options together with the parents.
Out of precaution
Since the summer of 2022, the Growing Up Agency has been working according to the precautionary principle, which has led to an increased number of suspensions and closures of childcare initiatives for some time now.
“Now also in Roeselare childcare ‘t Fopspeentje, which has 25 licensed places, will be closed for a maximum period of three months. For the parents, this closure means that they will lose their childcare place from one day to the next.”
What should parents do?
“Parents can contact the City of Roeselare to look together for a possible solution for their childcare needs in the coming period,” says the city.

The service is available:
– Monday to Thursday: from 8.30 am to 12 noon and from 1.30 pm to 5 pm
– Friday: from 08:30 to 12:00 and from 13:30 to 15:00
– On Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 December, the service can exceptionally be reached by telephone until 8 pm.

A digital information session will follow tonight at 8 p.m. organized by the Growing Up Agency.
The city of Roeselare is also in line with this, and provides the option to follow along at a city location (Guido Gezellelaan 6) if parents cannot follow along at home.
