Nottingham loan Djed Spence in the focus of FC Bayern

Four Bundesliga clubs interested

According to media reports, English right-back Djed Spence has attracted the interest of several top European clubs, including FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, according to information from “Sky Sports”. The defender, who is currently on loan to Nottingham Forest from Middlesborough FC, still has a contract with “Boro” until 2024, the pain threshold of the English second division club in terms of transfer is said to be around 18 million euros.

The sum would make the 21-year-old the club’s second most expensive exit after Barcelona’s Adama Traoré, who left Middlesborough for Wolverhampton for €20m in the 2018/19 season. Born in London, Spence first switched from Fulham to the U23 “Boros” in 2018, two years later he made the leap to the professionals. After a mixed past season, the club lent the right foot to Nottingham last summer via a “deal sheet” at the last minute on Deadline Day, where Spence has been an undisputed regular player ever since – he has had four goals in 26 games, especially in England Forest’s surprising FA Cup win over Arsenal.

“It was one of the best performances from a right-back I’ve seen in a long time. A very long time. When we talk about right-backs playing at an incredible level, we’re talking about Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold. But I haven’t seen such a fighting, technical, daring performance for a long time. A player at this level should play in the Premier League – it’s as simple as that,” Gunners legend and TV pundit Ian Wright summed up Spence’s performance.

The youngster’s performance seems to have made an impression even beyond England’s borders. After during the week the English “Express”, which should be enjoyed with caution, in addition to Premier League clubs such as Tottenham, which was reportedly rebuffed in January with an offer in Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Arsenal FC, there was also interest from the Italian Serie A and Borussia Dortmund reported, “Sky Sports” also brings FC Bayern into play. Accordingly, the record champions have already observed Spence several times and included them on the list of potential summer transfers.

18 million for Spence? FC Bayern only paid more for a talent four times

In the right-back position, FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann currently has three regular players available in Benjamin Pavard, who keeps oscillating between the center and the flank, Josip Stanisic and the Africa Cup winner Bouna Sarr, who was recently rumored to have emigrated. Spence could be here as a possible backup.

According to “Sky” information, an official offer from Munich is still pending, but is expected in the coming weeks. FC Bayern have only paid four times a transfer fee of at least 18 million euros or more for a player Spence’s age – for Niklas Süle, Kingsley Coman, Renato Sanches and Mario Götze (see also gallery above).
