Like Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner also has big physical problems. Participation in the US Open mixed competition is thus very endangered for the world ranking list.
The Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz won the hard court tournament of Cincinnati after Jannik Sinner’s task. Alcaraz led 5-0 in the endgame in the US state of Ohio after 22 minutes, when the world ranking of Sinner gave up exhausted. “I tried it, but it didn’t work. I have to accept that,” said the 24-year-old.
The Italian participation in the mixed competition in the US Open, which begins on Tuesday (local time), is extremely questionable. Together with the Czech double specialist Katerina Siniakova, he is supposed to compete against Germany’s best tennis player Alexander Zverev and the Swiss Belinda Bencic. However, Zverev was physically physically at the limit two days earlier during his semi-final defeat against Alcaraz and ultimately dragged himself across the square.
In the final, Alcaraz was clearly superior to his battered opponent at temperatures of over 30 degrees. The number two in the world took off the serve twice, while the Italian had a lot of trouble. After 22 minutes, Sinner had to give up at 0: 5. “This is not the way I want to win trophies,” said 22-year-old Alcaraz, who wrote the words “Sorry, Jannik” in a TV camera after the game.
