Arjen Lubach never shows up among the regular employees in the RTL canteen, says his channel colleague Aran Bade. “We used to always sit in the canteen!” shouts Wilfred Genee.
Where RTL Tonight by far the biggest flop of the year is from RTL, Arjen Lubach is the biggest disappointment. The comedian was taken away from the public broadcaster for a lot of money, but does not score at all as hoped. And even worse: he is no longer controversial at all. All the fun has gone a bit, say critics.
“He’s no fun!”
Arjen actually does not suit RTL at all, experts believe. And despite his collapsed popularity, he has returned to the top of some list of influential media makers.
Johan Derksen thinks that is strange. “Yes, it has no viewers and it’s not fun,” he says Today Inside.
Colleague René van der Gijp: “But he is influential! No, of course not!”
Eating together
Wilfred Genee then asks studio guest Aran Bade, the star reporter of RTL Boulevard, how Arjen is positioned within the media company. “Is he popular with you or not? In the canteen, eating together and so on?”
Aran: “I didn’t see him in the canteen, no.”
Wilfred: “Not in the canteen? We used to always sit in the canteen!”
Meat and fish
Johan has special memories of the RTL canteen. “The canteen at RTL is unique. Meat and fish taste exactly the same there.”
Wilfred: “It’s strange, because we always sat in the canteen. All the stars sat together in the canteen. Among all the people, between everyone, and Lubach is not there in the canteen?”
Aran concludes: “I didn’t see Lubach there, no…”
