At the age of 23, Jeanne Richard is already one of the world’s best in biathlon. However, the Frenchwoman still sees potential for improvement and is therefore working on her shooting speed as part of her preparation for the season.

In the last biathlon season, Jeanne Richard achieved a strong sixth place in the overall World Cup. But the Frenchwoman wants more and is therefore working hard in preparation.

“The Olympic season is special because the Games are always in the back of your mind. But that doesn’t mean you have to revolutionize your training,” Richard told Le Dauphiné libéré.

This summer she has “worked a lot on my shooting speed, an area where I still have a lot of room for improvement. My goal is to maintain my shooting quality while being quicker in attack and first shot,” the 23-year-old revealed.

Richard is cautiously optimistic about the coming biathlon season: “There’s still a month and a half left to refine my shooting. Let’s see if that pays off this winter.” The World Cup begins at the end of November in Östersund, Sweden.

Biathlon jewel Richard sees competition as positive

The French biathlon team is full of stars, and the internal competition for the four individual starting places at the 2026 Olympics is correspondingly great.

“We have to show good performances from the start of the season and complete six World Cup rounds before the games. We have to stay consistent to have a chance of being nominated,” said Richard.

The ski hunter sees the performance density in France as positive. It’s “a real advantage and provides great work energy. I’m proud to be part of this team and to have my place, you have to know how to use this opportunity,” says Richard.
