The Norwegian national women also won their second group game at the European Championship. The move into the quarter -finals could be perfect in the evening.
Thanks to Caroline Graham Hansen, Norway’s football women took a big step towards the quarter-finals at the European Championship in Switzerland. The offensive player of FC Barcelona scored the winning goal for her country (84th minute) on Sunday at 2-1 over Finland shortly before the end. A flank of her crashed, without further touch, first to the inner post and then into the goal.
Previously, Norway had taken the lead through an own goal of Finland’s Eva Nyström (3rd). Oona Sevenius equalized about half an hour later (32nd).
The Finns determined the game after the 1-1 against the actually favored Norwegians and even had chances of leading the lead through Katariina Kosola (57th) and a post from Eveliina Summanen (62nd). In the final phase, the momentum changed sides again – with a bitter end for Finland.
Norway has six points in the account after two games. If Switzerland and Iceland only play draws in the evening (from 9 p.m. in LiveTicker at T-Online) or win the European Championship hosts against the Scandinavians, the team of quarter-finals around the former world footballer Ada Hegerberg would be perfect.
Norway meets Iceland on the last group game day. Finland is dealing with Switzerland.
