The 28-year-old worked at the barracks in Havelte and was in Germany for exercise Ferociuos Bison. Bosschieter was part of the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, which is part of the so-called 43rd Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.
Accident with a Fennek vehicle
The soldier who died was in Germany for an exercise in which a total of 550 soldiers took part. It allegedly involved an accident involving a so-called Fennek vehicle, a type of armored car.
The exercise took place in the Munster Süd training area in Germany and started on September 30. The exercise was actually supposed to end today, but after the soldier died, it was decided to stop yesterday.
The Royal Military Police is investigating the circumstances and is supported by the German Police. The Defense Safety Inspectorate and the Dutch Safety Board are also conducting investigations.
