The Norwegian traditional brand Norrøna is targeting the Chinese market. For this purpose, a partnership with the local retail company Topsports was closed, said Oslo-based outdoor equipment on Tuesday. As part of the agreement, Topsports received “the exclusive sales rights for mainland china, Macau and Hong Kong”.
The Chinese sporting goods specialist, who is already working with well-known international brands such as Nike, Adidas, Vans and Hoka, will now “initially introduce digital Norrøna stores in these markets and start planning the first inpatient shops,” said Gaute Fonkalsrud, the Sales Director of Norrøna, in one statement. At the start, “flagship locations in important cities such as Beijing and Shanghai” are the focus, he emphasized. The aim is to open the first store in China soon – “ideally already this autumn”.
Fonkalsrud also explained the background of the partnership with top sports: “We have great respect for the Asian market and the understanding that is required there for successful market entry,” he said. “In recent years we have been observing an increasing interest in the Norrøna brand in China. The time was therefore ideal for working with a partner who knows the market inside and by heart.”
