The cause of the disturbance that led to the closure of Nordnet’s services was an internal technical problem. The fault has been located for check -in Nordnet Finland Country Manager Suvi Tuppurainen tells you.
“It was not due to an external attack on Nordnet,” Tuppurainen explains.
The online service and the mobile application were returned to Finnish customers at about 4:25 pm. The services were off for just over four hours.

– Yes, this is where all the rules of crisis communication are broken. Some temporary information should be provided, he says.
He points out that silence is easily fueled by rumors, even if the worry is unfounded.

The problem of logging in to Nordnet concerned the customers who tried to sign in to the service on Tuesday between 12.10 and 12.20. With the login, customers ended up in the accounts of foreign persons.
Tuppurainen emphasizes that the number of clients, which was small. However, driving down the service affected anyone who wanted to use the service.
– This has never happened before. This is a very serious matter and we do everything that the same situation will not come again.
Who saw and what?
In 2022, money was stolen from S-Bank’s clients’ accounts of about EUR 1.3 million in money, while a teenager’s young person noticed a vulnerability in the online bank that made it possible to enter the accounts of others. The person who ended up in the wrong account could still have been able to misuse another account.
– As far as I know, there are no such actual shops, Tuppurainen calms down.
However, it is possible that the customer has seen the personal information of another customer.
Ownership, events, balance and name are first in the account. Finding may also have access to another person’s address or phone number, for example.
Indeed, security expert Järvinen is concerned about the possible leakage of personal data into a dark network, where they can be used for criminal purposes.

However, Järvinen emphasizes that he has no more detailed information about the events.
Also, Tuppurainen has not yet received an explanation of the pages of those who have come to the wrong persons. The investigation will continue.
He urges clients who are concerned about to watch their own account transactions and possibly post a message through the online service logged in. If suspicious account transactions have occurred today, they will also be visible to the customer.
