In the women’s cross-country skiing sprint, defending champion Jonna Sundling could not be beaten. As the best DSV starter, Coletta Rydzek narrowly missed the final.
In front of more than 10,000 spectators, the first titles were awarded at the Nordic Ski World Cup in the Granasen ski center. In the women’s cross-country skiing sprint, defending champion and Olympic champion Jonna Sundling celebrated the next World Cup success of her career. The Swede prevailed under the eyes of King Karl Gustav in front of Norwegian Kristine Skistad. She got silver under the applause from the Norwegian royal family. The Swiss Nadine Fähndrich became a third party without royal support.
The German cross-country skiers had weakened in the first medal decision. “Quasi the entire sprint team had a fever“, said head coach Peter Schlickenrieder. In the qualification, Coletta Rydzek, despite health problems, came shortly before the title fights after 1.4 km outdoors as the best German with 9.02 seconds behind top favorite Jonna Sundling (Sweden) in nine. (14./+10.93).
Rydzek confidently in the semi -finals
In the quarter -finals that were held in five runs with six starters each was then for Hoffmann, Krehl and Carl end station. “I was a bit of bad luck,” said Carl, who is now looking forward to the upcoming competitions. No DSV runner in the final

Rydzek gave everything, but could not prevail in her race and had to say goodbye to the fight for the medals as four -fastest. “I gave everything today but unfortunately it was no longer possible“, said Rydzek in the ZDF interview.
In the final of the top six, Jonna Sundling held up the pace and stormed away. However, Kristine Skistad and Lotta Weng could not shake off. At the finish, the result was clear. Sundling won with 2.13 seconds before Skistad. Surprisingly, Fähndrich (+2.18s) pushed on the podium.
