Amsterdam
The liberation party and the commemoration on 1 July will be organized at separate locations in Amsterdam.
Keti Koti starts there with the Bigi Spigri procession. It starts at 12.15 pm for the Stopera on Waterlooplein. From this point the procession leaves for Oosterpark, where the national commemoration starts at 2 p.m. With a wreath laying and speeches by, among others, Prime Minister Dick Schoof and Mayor Femke Halsema.
After the commemoration, the abolition is celebrated during the Keti Koti festival, with various stages and more than 100 food stalls on the Museumplein.
Haarlem
In Haarlem, on July 1, from 4 p.m. there is a varied program with theater, film screenings, music, workshops, lectures and Surinamese and Antillean snacks on 1 July. During this afternoon, Jörgen Raymann also gives a taste of his new theater show: “Welcome home, where nobody is waiting for you”.
