Many consider Nokia’s new logo difficult to read and unclear.
Nokia
The technology giant Nokia went and renewed its logo.
– The new logo depicts an energetic, dynamic and modern Nokia based on the company’s culture and mission statement, Nokia announced on Sunday.
The new logo is related to the company’s strategy update and brand renewal.
Iltalehti asked what readers think about Nokia’s new logo. Answers rained in both directions – more to the more critical one.
“Easily misread”
Many seem to find the new logo difficult to read and unclear:
– Shockingly bad and easily misread, one says.
– The new logo brings an unpleasant feeling. It’s hard to read. The letters also look like a combination of runic and Hebrew. It creates the impression that the company’s home country is something completely different from Finland, another assesses.
– The new logo looks like it’s broken, the third thinks.
Nokia’s fresh-from-the-oven logo was also criticized with short turns of phrase, calling it, among other things, horrible, commercial moska, bad and crap. Some think that the logo also has too much in common with the logo of the car manufacturer Kia.
Regardless of the appearance of the new logo, accepting the change itself also seems to present challenges for some.
– As a former resident of Nokia, this is sad to watch. I think the logo is the company’s identity – and it shouldn’t be changed over the years, a former employee estimates.
– Why change a clear and legendary logo to confusing nonsense. I’ve been afraid of something like this, laments one.
– Commenting seems to be pointless. The list of what could be joked about is long. But in short, a professional in the field would say visual environmental pollution, one of the respondents sneers.

“Wanted and expected”
Despite the critical feedback, the new logo also garnered some praise.
– Absolutely brilliant!!! praises one.
– A really modern and wonderful looking logo from Nokia, writes another.
– Really hoped for and expected, describes the third.
Among the 115 responses received by Iltalehti, a total of five comments were found that could be interpreted as satisfaction with the new logo. So the majority would have stuck to the old logo.
